Alternative medicine has been used many centuries before the apparition of conventional medicine, which has developed mostly during this past Century.
Both are scientifically based, but unfortunately, conventional medicine has overruled and pushed aside all that is called alternative medicine.
In my opinion, a mix of alternative medicine and conventional medicine can be used for many treatments. They can complement each other.
In traditional medicine, it is the drugs that try to heal the body, in what is called alternative medicine herbs and spices and acupuncture, help the body heal itself. Alternative medicine treats the body as a self-healing mechanism. Conventional medicine treats the body as though it has no idea how to heal itself and must, therefore, be taught how to fight diseases. Generally, treatments are anti-something. This means that the treatment usually fights against the body itself, assuming that the body is too ignorant to take care of that task.
Conventional medicine tries to treat the symptoms directly and make the cure appear as quickly as possible. They do not address the root cause, which causes the patient to fall sick again soon after the supposed cure. Alternative medicine is generally to aid the healing. The whole person is treated holistically. Traditional wisdom is usually passed on through generations. The root cause of the disease is targeted. The symptoms are used to identify the problem, but alternative medicine never treats the symptoms themselves. Hence the cure may be delayed, but more often than not, they are permanent. The basis of alternative medicine is energy, and everything is energy; therefore, every alternative medicine drugs are energy-based. They never go against the action of the body; it merely aids it. Every treatment is individualized and unique to every patient. Physician’s wisdom and Instinct play a considerable part in the healing.
